For over 40 years Jim has working with individuals and groups in a variety of setting including his private practice office for psychodynamic psychotherapy to workplace settings for employee assistance (EA) consultations, resiliency seminars and business coaching.
Jim’s initial interest dramatic presentations lead to his interest in both psychology and the workplace; pivotal experiences were performances of the works of Tennessee Williams and Arnold Wesker. While working as a clinician and training as a psychoanalyst, Jim began doing EA work. His transition from EA management consultation to management development/business coaching work is illustrated in the article From Management Consultation to Management Development.
Jim and his co-authors recently revised The Employee Assistance Treatment Planner which will be release in August 2026.
As a student Jim was a recipient of a National Institute of Mental Health Grant and the Robert M. Linder scholarship at the National Association of Psychoanalysis. Currently he is a member and training analyst there.
